Frequently asked questions

What can I expect in the first session?

Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and talk about what led you to consider therapy. We’ll explore your goals, your current challenges, and what you hope will feel different. By the end of the session, you’ll have a clearer sense of my style and whether we’re a good fit.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. I provide secure video therapy to clients located in Massachusetts and California. Many clients appreciate the flexibility and comfort of meeting from home or work.

Do I need to have a specific problem to start therapy?

Not at all. Many people start therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply wanting things to feel different. You don’t need to have everything figured out—we’ll clarify your goals together and take things one step at a time.

Do you work with couples?

Yes. I support couples with communication, conflict patterns, trust repair, intimacy concerns, and navigating major transitions. My work is LGBTQ+ affirming and welcoming to all relationship structures.

How often do you meet with clients?

I work with clients weekly. Weekly sessions provide consistency, momentum, and the depth needed for meaningful therapeutic work.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, I accept Aetna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. Private pay is $175 per session, and I provide superbills for clients with out-of-network benefits.

How long do people stay in therapy?

This varies. Some clients come for a few months to work through a specific concern, while others stay longer to explore deeper patterns, relational dynamics, or identity-related experiences. We’ll talk openly about your goals and revisit them as therapy progresses.

Can I use my out-of-network insurance benefits to work with you?

Yes. If your plan includes out-of-network coverage, you pay for your session at the time of service, and I provide a superbill that you submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Many plans reimburse a portion of the session fee. You can contact your insurance provider to ask about your specific benefits for 90791 (first session) and 90837 (ongoing therapy), including your expected reimbursement amount.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Therapy is confidential, with limited legal exceptions related to safety. I’ll review confidentiality and answer any questions during our first session so you feel fully informed.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Sessions canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice are billed at the full session fee. This policy helps maintain a consistent schedule and ensures reliable availability for all clients.
